Hello. My name is Adia Manzyuk. My husband is a Russian Soilder. He has been fighting since 1914. I have been left to go to the factories and take care of the family while i also worry about my husband. My husband's name is Venya Manzyuk. We have 3 children. Our oldest daughter is named Alina, she's 6. Then we have another daughter and her name is Arina, shes 2. then our youngest daughter is almost 2 months old and her name is Anna. The first picture is of myself and my husband but i was much older than i was in the second picture.. The one next to it is myself with my oldest daughter Alina when she was a year old. My counrty got started in this war with the largest army in the world. We had 5,000,000 soldiers. The many days I would spend sitting and home with my girls and worring that my husband wounldn't come home to see his girls grow up. The rifles you could hear sitting in our living room. Our army had 4.6 million rifles. We joined the war in August of 1914, just a few days after Anna was born and off he went. I was very worried. We faught the Germans in east Prussia. Our first army was commanded by one of my dearest friends husbands Rennekampf. Before this happened though, we the Russians faught the Austria-Hungarians. The weapons we used were the machine guns. we could take out at least 100 men with only a few shots. It was easy to shoot but very hard to manuver. Sure we could've used some help with the moving of this gun but in the long run it was fine. We did a lot to make sure the Austria-Hungrians went back to their homes and leave our "little brothers" (the Serbs) alone. We had allinances with France, Britian and Serbia.
I had a very hard day. If you ask me I dont like this "Great War". I want my husband home and with me.

December 16, 1914
Today I took my 3 daughters to the market and let them pick out a toy or something. Well since my youngest was sleeping I got a little bear thing for her. Well you will never believe what happened today!!! My husband wrote me!!! I was so happy. I took it everywhere and showed it to all my friends. They were happy for me. Well I went out again after leaving my kids with a dear friend and I went Christmas shopping. Like most people in the area they saw how happy I was and they talked with me for what seemed like hours. It was so amazing. When I went to pick up my kids I heard the bad news. Another letter came but in it the letter said he wouldn’t be home for Christmas but that he sent his love. He was a frontline solider so I guessed that was going to happen. What seemed like a perfect day ended up horrible. I never told my children about this day.
